Call for chapters: Higher Education at the Margins Theory

JWL is pleased to share a call for abstracts for an upcoming edited volume entitled “A Journey Towards a Theory of Higher Education at the Margins,” emerging from Jesuit Worldwide Learning experience.
The volume seeks to contribute to the development of an emerging theory of Higher Education at the Margins, exploring how educational experiences in contexts of displacement, conflict, exclusion, and other forms of marginalisation can challenge conventional assumptions about the purposes, practices, and possibilities of higher education.
We welcome conceptual, theoretical, empirical, methodological, and practice-based contributions from scholars, practitioners, educators, students, alumni, and community leaders. Submissions from students and emerging scholars are especially welcome.
The call is organised around five interconnected themes:
Histories, Contexts, and Foundations: Defining the Margins
Design and Delivery Systems: Pedagogy, Partnerships, and Technology
Human Dimensions of Learning: Hope, Identity, and Agency
Knowledge, Epistemic Justice, and the Purpose of Higher Education
Impact and Transformation
Please find more information about the call in the extended call for chapters : Extended Call for Chapters - HEaM theory framework.pdf
We invite interested contributors to submit an abstract of 300–500 words by January 15, 2027.
