Muvunyi Consolee spoke about the importance of opening opportunities for refugees, particularly women, while Maitha Mathias reflected on the additional distance refugees often have to travel to access and complete higher education –and how he is now working to create those opportunities for others.",{"type":27,"attrs":92,"content":94},{"textAlign":18,"key":93},"p-7",[95],{"text":96,"type":33},"JWL also brought research produced from and within these contexts, as Mélodie presented findings from her doctoral research on students' experiences of higher education in emergencies and its role in peace and sustainable development. Alongside this academic perspective, three JWL students and young researchers presented their own findings: Gaspard Cizungu explored how time, language and administrative requirements shape refugee access to higher education; Dual Ador Arok examined how refugee adolescents experience aid reduction in Kalobeyei; and Maitha Mathias explored the limits of refugee participation and the importance of moving towards greater agency for refugee researchers and organisations.",{"type":27,"attrs":98,"content":100},{"textAlign":18,"key":99},"p-8",[101],{"text":102,"type":33},"The Voices in Action conference was therefore an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the partnerships and collaborations that have made this journey possible. The presence and contributions of NGOs, refugee-led organisations, UNHCR, UNESCO, UNICEF, and Church leaders including Cardinal Fabio Baggio, C.S., alongside universities, researchers, educators and refugee and migrant communities, reflected the range of actors needed to advance education in contexts of displacement. No single organisation can do this alone.
